
Council to vote on housing transfer, $1.2M transit funding, and new Hopewell Visitors Center plan
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe City Council is set to consider a slate of measures Monday evening, including a potential property transfer to support housing development, a lease agreement for a new regional visitors center, and funding for local transportation services.
On the agenda for the Sept. 8 meeting is the third reading of a resolution that would allow the city to convey properties at 145 South Bridge St. and 364 East Fifth St. to the Greater Chillicothe and Ross County Development organization for future housing projects. City officials would also be authorized to continue coordination and review of a development agreement.
Council will also hear the first reading of legislation authorizing Mayor Luke Feeney to enter into a lease with the Ross County Board of Commissioners for city-owned property at 89 Riverside St. The site would be developed into the Hopewell Regional Visitors Center.
Other items include a proposed appropriation of $1.2 million for RossGo NET, the county’s non-emergency transportation service, for the remainder of 2025; adoption of the new Unified Development Code; and approval of replacement pages to the city’s codified ordinances.
Council will also take up the third reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 1151 of the Downtown Enterprise District regulations.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at 26 South Paint St.
