
Italian Village shooting sends one to hospital in critical condition — cops say it was family crossfire.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are investigating a shooting that left one person critically injured and another hospitalized early Sunday morning in the city’s Italian Village neighborhood.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 4:43 a.m. on August 24 in the 300 block of East 1st Avenue, according to the Columbus Division of Police. Upon arrival, they found two adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Columbus Fire medics transported both individuals to area hospitals. One victim was treated and released, while the other remains in life-threatening condition. Due to the severity of the injuries, the department’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest the shooting was non-intentional and occurred between family members, police said. No charges have been filed at this time.
