
Weinland Park stabbing turns fatal — coroner rules death a homicide, suspect still free.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A fatal stabbing that occurred in the early hours of August 22 in the Weinland Park neighborhood has been officially ruled a homicide, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Police say an adult victim was stabbed during an altercation with an adult suspect around 12:43 a.m. in the 1200 block of Summit Street. The victim was transported to Grant Medical Center for emergency treatment but succumbed to their injuries two days later, on August 24.
On August 26, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office classified the death as a homicide. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit has launched an investigation, led by Detective Collins with assistance from Detective Johnson.
Authorities have not released the names of either the victim or the suspect. The suspect has not been formally charged, and the case is being reviewed by the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether charges will be filed.
